There really are no new idea's, just re-applying of old ones.

So, I'm reading up on some of the latest talk from chip makers about what they are planning on for upcomming chips and what this means for app developers. The whole idea of a “CMT Summit”, where CMT stands for “Chip Multi-Threading”. What does that boil down to SMP (Symmetric Multiprocessing) squashed onto on chip so that they can use more computer power running slower and achive better performance. Not unlike the idea of a beowolf cluster but the problem there is that means rewritting all the old code out that on those legacy systems so that it'll work in a scalable environment....
"Shya Right, and Monkey's might fly out of my but..." Hasn't happened yet, and I don't expect it'll happen anytime soon. Add to that list of legacy code all the non scalable code that is STILL being written... Same old arguments on both sides...

That got me thinking about the big deal they were making out at the Conference in Redmond about Server Virtualization which is just a rehash of the old IBM concept of VM's.

Everything old is new again....
