[livejournal.com profile] chaiya and I were talking today about alternative energy sources, and making our houses "greener" on the way back from dropping the stuff she and [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare had borrowed for pennsic. Since we all know fuel costs are going up, and driving hybrids is just a start. I've been collecting what info I can while I research options. Here are a list of sites I have so far with some good info:

Anyone else have some good info links?

I have an all-electric house (go ahead, wince), and we use a pellet stove. The pellets are compressed wood (no chemicals), and the stove is basically a tiny furnace with a blower and auger. We also have a traditional wood stove for when the power goes out.

(All-electric heat isn't as bad as it sounds: every room is its own zone, and the house is well-insulated.)

Now if I could just get you to join [livejournal.com profile] alt_energy and post this there ... :)

The Humanure Site/book might not be appropriate for city living, but the Solviva project is quite interesting and applicable.
