Well another year, and another Arisia have gone by....

What was it like this year.....

Well I backed down fom Division Head level to a Dept Head, but ended up as defacto Asst Div Head.... (Yay me) :-/

I was about a 1/2 day behind on my setup work do to the hotel not letting me into the room when they were supposed to. Despite that I think we did a good job organizing things, and since this was the first year I've done it I see where I have some room for improvments. A couple of my ideas for this year got some really great responces. :-)

Thursday I took a half day from work, and ran over to setup. Setup and load in went wonderfully. I was actually able to goto bed around 12:30 that night.

Friday started the busyness that is Operations at a large convention. :-)

Signage for next year "Turn your radios down / off as you enter the Operations Room" :-) Too much cross talk and feedback. Also need to have people agree on a standard convention for calling and ackowledgement. Hmmm a write up to be handed out prior to load-in next year.

I made it out to one of the pannels (Advanced Poly) :-)

Well, for those that remember last year, "Old faithful" blew his top almost to the HOUR..... He really does work hard for the convention, and I want to be understanding but it's really hard to deal with him nowadays.... He's been mad at me ever since the situation last year. Oh he's been polite in the few social settings I've seen him in, but I can still feel the slight anger radiating from him....

No-one knows quite what to do with him anymore. We've tried to be friendly and let him know that we can see he's burning out all his energy, but he seems to take that not as a construcive thing that we are acknowleging his great performance and dedication, but as a critisizm that we don't think he can "Do the job". When in fact he really has done quite a wonderful job.

This meant I spent a good part of Friday/Sat Morning night dealing with fall-out, plus the start of the roving niose complaints on the security channel.

Which is a good thing I guess as it kept me busy while A had run off with her OSO. This had me upset as we had planned to have Friday night to ourselves.... She and I ended up having a talk Sat lunch time.

Sat night I made it out to some of the parties with B. Saw some of the Masquerade on TV. I missed the B5 Movie.... (Did anyone catch it on Tape who could lend it to me? Please!!!)

Sunday The convention wrapped up Turned out that the guiy I had left in Ops the night befor had stayed there even though I had arranged for an overnighty shift. The arragned morning shift though didn't manage to show up. :-( (I understand it was their first time without the Baby but that made for a difficult morning)

Everything ran pretty smoothly overall, and the report we got from the convention gripe session had no complaints about they way we ran things. :-)

Thanks to all the people who helped out. :-)
