Scotsman: Colin Powell Petitions for Coat of Arms

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell has petitioned the Heraldry Society of Scotland for a coat of arms.
Colin Powell is proud of his Scottish heritage and wants to prove it with an authentic coat of arms. To that end, he has petitioned the Heraldry Society of Scotland on behalf of his father, Luther Powell, a citizen of Jamaica. Powell could not petition directly because he is not a subject of the British Crown.

A somewhat garbled description of the arms includes, in the crest, the head of a bald eagle below an escrol with the motto "Devoted to Public Service." The blazon for the arms is "two swords in saltire, points downward, between four mullets Argent in a chief of the second a lion passant Gules".

damnit! there goes me applying for a coat of arms. I was NOT aware one had to be a Crown citizen. Some heraldically inclined people I know have suggested they might be bought.

Guess they were wrong.

So, Just do what Colin did...

my mom would jump at the chancde to go to Jamaica. But she will NEVER be willing to be a Crown subject. After all, my mom is a dyed in the vat Republican. Or Nationalistic, depending on the day.
