Jane, You ignorant slut...

What a long weekend it has been. I actually took Friday and today off from work.
Thursday night after I got home from work B, Her ex-husband and I loaded up my [livejournal.com profile] escapehybrid and headed off to Manhattan. We didn't luck out this time as the only parking spot on the street was down near the end of the block. (Last time there was a space right in frount of the building.) We all lugged our things in and crashed for the night.

Friday We woke up and by the time we headed out for breakfast it was too late I had a $65 parking ticket because I hadn't moved my car in time for garbadge pick up. (Missed it by 10 damn minutes.) Moved the car to the gararge behind The Dakota and left it there for the rest of the weekend. We then continued on and had brunch, and ran a coupl of errands, we finally came back to the house to find B's ex had started going through and sorting and packing, we also did a quick run through of the problems with the building we were going to discuss with the managment company. While we were doing this we made some amazing finds. I still have to download the pictures, so i'll post then at some other point.
Met with the head of the new managment company he and B's ex hit it off as they both seem to have similar personalities...

We made plans with them on what to do for renting out B's Mom's old Apt.... We're gonna split it back into a small downstairs apt (that we've currently still got stuff in to go through in) and an upstairs full through.

We then also went over the plumbing problems in the basement.... At some time in the past some idiot plumber "re-ran" the main sewar connection, and he pitched it wrong so that it has a slight dip in the middle. This has been made worse over the years by the last building super. (a crazy drunk italian, who it turns out is also a millionere, who owns at least 6 other buildings in the upper west side, and some in another area. It'd take a whole long post to tell you all about this guy.)

I do have to say it was interesting getting down in the basement there and seeing how efficiently the made getting at the city connections in NYC. Some of the setup just makes so much more sence, than what I see up here around Boston. After all that it was then time for dinner we met up with a childhood friend of B's (okay friend might be too strong a word. Crazy-Lady would be more apt. Are you sencing a theme for the people who live in NYC their whole lives. but at least she sweet and means well. Even if talking to her for 5 minutes drives the hair on the back of your neck up like fingers on a chalk-board.)

After dinner we went back and did a little bit more before crashing.

Saturday, was the big day. B and I overslept a bit. (I had tried setting the alarm, but it didn't go off)
B got into doing more organizing, and we both finally hit the shower and got ready for the memorial, I should have guesses something was wrong B was rfeeling completely scattered by the time we got to the end of the block, fortunately we ran into [livejournal.com profile] sarah1247 and she took the bag of pictures ahead while we went back to the house for something else. The extra time in the heat did B in and by the time we got there hse was nearly ready to pass out. It was a fairly nice bruch there were flower, and pictures that the relatives and friends of B's mom could look at. Afterwards I got us a cab back to the house, and got B settled in while I let the horde in upstairs to continue goinbg over pictures and genereally be in the way while we packed up the last of everything. I then had to head off and pick up the rental truck So we could start loading up. The goal was to get the upstairs cleared out so that the renovation work could start this week.

B's ex had done an amazing job cleaning the years of smoke off the stained glass and the living room windows.

I ran into a small snag as B had mistakenly given me the wrong address for the turck rental, and I showed up at the place that had closed an hour earlier. I managed to find the right place and get the truck back. Driving in Manhattan is an experience for those of you who haven't tried it, but adding the fun of controloing a rental truck in that traffic, and then trying to parrallel park... On the positive side there was a space right across the street (okay so it was a hydrant, but we wouldn't be there too long.)

We then started loading up... Wow how they got some of that furniture up the stairs.... One of the couches must have weighed in over 700 lbs. I levered most of that down the stairs on my shoulder...

I'm so glad I was lugging things out to the truck I got to miss most of the greedy grubbing for things. Who get the big mirror, Where are the pearls.. Sheesh.... We finally managed to get the horde moving on so we could finish up. After loading up we arranged who was traveling in which cars and b and i walked over and got mine out of the garage. it was off to Conn to pick up and drop off some of the things and we crashed at a family friends house on a pull out.

Sunday morning we had a HUGE breaskfast... Before getting back on the road where we flew (I think we were averaging in the low 80's, Which with a rental truck was impressive.) Unfortunately while I did just barely make it back in time to maybe consider going to [livejournal.com profile] tk7602's and [livejournal.com profile] dancer's for their costumingget together, I just didn't have the energy to pull my TK peices together. Though I did manage to start un-loading the truck, by myself after a few hours rest.

This morning when we woke up B's ex had dived in and was also unloading the truck I went down and we finished that off. But there is no way I'm gonna get the mattresses swapped. (We brought the new extra large king sized up from NY to swap with our older one.) It's just too big for me to fight it up the stairs. Though once we do I'll then have to figure out a way to get it over to [livejournal.com profile] cintyber's place and up those stairs...

But after a little while in today's heat B decided that she's had enough and we took a trip, after returning the rental truck & gettig some lunch, over to BJ's wholesale and picked up some new AC's... We also managed to get in to [livejournal.com profile] chaiya's one free bit of time today so that I could get the knots worked out of my back...
