The Blog spammers are getting annoying
Jun. 30th, 2005 11:37 pmOkay so lots of communities are getting hit with spam ads... Our option Block the user account that spammed us, but then they'll go and grab a new LJ acct...
So we need some way to "black-list" the spammers account and all the relevant info used to create/use/access the account (E-mail, IP Address, etc ) so that if the same combo is used it is automatically added to the black-list... This black-list itself could be treated as a community, then the real community moderators could add the black-list community to their ban lists....
I know that just like in the world of E-mail Black-lists aren't the only/best solution, but it is a start. If we could come up with bayesian filters that could be pre-applied to posts before they get posted to communities... rather than explicitly making the moderators allow a post, these filters could automatically allow the posts that pass the filter, and if the filters were customizable then community mods could alter them to keep any trolls to a minimum as well... Additionally the the filters could also check the black-lists...
Sound good? If you know any of them feel free to pass this along to the LJ developers.
