Our State Government at... "Work???"
Oct. 26th, 2005 06:09 pmI just read This entry over at GROKLAW about some of the MA State Legislators being upset over the decision to use Open Document Format & PDF to store PUBLIC documents so that they are in NON-PROPIETORY FORMATS", and can be read by people who have not or do not want to pay some licencing fee...
Hmmm, Since they are so worried about the cost of chagning the software, I wonder if some enterprising students will burn a copy of Open Office, and other other Open Source Apps onto some cheap CD's and them out at the Oct 31 meeting at the State House...
When someone asks the inevitable questions "How much will this cost", and "How hard will it be to change over to them"; Then they can answer "Here they are. They're Free!!!" and "Well if you want to know how hard it'll be; try 'em out and see"...
