At least things have been getting better for the most part recently...

Some of the work suckage still sucks like a Dyson vortex vacuum. But the holidays are nearly over with...

I'm sorry we didn't make it out to many of the holiday parties we we're invited too... but we have managed to be somewhat social and get some time in seeing people.
[livejournal.com profile] dancer and [livejournal.com profile] tk7602 took us out to dinner, after their triumphant return from NYC. :-)
We managed a wonderfully home cooked dinner with [livejournal.com profile] chaiya, [livejournal.com profile] hakamadare, and their new housemate.
(I still need to return the DVD's they lent me so long before that though..., and schedule a massage....)

We got out to see Narnia twice... Once with a friend from MIT, and another time with [personal profile] dionysia, [livejournal.com profile] dancer, [livejournal.com profile] tk7602, and [livejournal.com profile] tiamatlady...

I spent a bunch on my nieces and nephews. I got the oldest one a Matser's Replica Anakin Skywalker Lightsaber, and a couple of Weird Al Yankovic CD's... (okay and then I picked one of the Darth Vader lightsaber's for myself.)
The next nephew in line got a RoboRaptor, and some Legos
I couldn't figure out what to get for my niece, but I lucked out in replacing a lost Gwen Stephani CD and some Barbies, Although she seemed to like the lego's more.... I should have guessed that, but her mom (my sister) told me that she was into "girlie" stuff (her words not mine)....
My last nephew is into something called BooBah's... (I guess they're the modern "Tele-Tubbies"...) and just to start corrupting him young Darth Tater...

Then it was off for the three hour tour.... (Umm drive....) down to CT. B and I spent x-mas eve with friends of her mom's and their family. (B's mom, and Her friends husband both passed away within a few month of each other last year.) They nice people but B and I don't really have much in common with them. (Other then they were very good to B's mom at the end.)

B stayed up way too late talking through the night with her mom's friend, and payed for it the next day, but they had some absolutely wonderful steak for dinner that day.... :-)

We came back through the rain, but still made very good time. (and I wasn't speeding all that much)...

We both had monday off so we swung by the store to look at printers for home since B love's to print out the picture from some web sites. But we got side tracked into looking at the large (42"+) flat panel HD TV's.... I've been thinking about them for a while, and our main TV is starting to go. (The flyback transformer is making a nearly constant high pitched whine.) So since B has to take a mandatory withdrawal from one of her accounts she was thinking that would be my x-mas present. (Then she found out how much these things cost....) :-) But I'm thinking since I have Friday off this week I might go to the store after work today, and see about a scheduled delivery... Rather than lugging the thing up the stairs, also to see if they have a previous set disposal...

Is the audio system on the TV the problem? If so, don't throw the TV away, post it to Reuse or Freecycle or something. Someone with separate speakers might be able to use it, and it'd be very expensive to get that big a TV new. I'd almost want to claim it for us, except we're working on a projector solution ... :)

No I'm pretty sure it's not the audio system on the old TV... I had a similar problem on another TV years ago... Also the store is taking the old TV away at no extra charge, wihc is great because I don't want to lug that monster down the stairs, and have to pay to have the city take it away.
