Long time no update....
Jun. 2nd, 2005 10:54 amIt's been a bit of a busy time here...
Last Friday I was informed of two bits of good news at work. :-)
- After all the hard work for the last year or so. I was nominated for and have recived an award for outstanding work as part of the group the brought one of the new on-line systems up and made it accessable for the students. (The best part is this comes with a check) :-)
- The promotion has also gone through and I should be receiving both a merit increase and a raise for the promotion in the next month.
Over the weekend I had my usual game. It went pretty well this time, and as an added bonus one of the guys just got back from his tour in Iraq recently and stopped in. It was good to see that he was safe. He also brought us back big (20" sq) ING (Iraq National Gaurd) stickers, and told us a bit about how tactially dumb some of these guys are. (They are basically being used as live bait, and were only just begining to get that fact by the time he shipped out.) They (the ING) get put out there on road block details, while our guys setup in positions to "take out" the terrorists who try and hit the poor saps.
Which makes me wonder who is dumber, the ING for being used as bait, though if they are now begining to understand that and still accept that risk makes them much braver, or the terrorists who apperently keep walking into that same trap.
So now what to do with the ING sticker, as there really isn't anywhere I want to put that thing.... Except maybe Campus Police... :-) Nah....
After the game it was then off to NYC for the weekend to do another round of cleaning through B's mom's old Apt. we got through a whole bunch of stuff, but it was exhausting. We REALLY lucked out as when we arrived there was a parking spot RIGHT IN FROUNT OF THE BUILDING. Also it was interesting to note that the milage on my
escapehybrid comming home was better that what I got going down by nearly 1/4 of a tank. Round trip in 1.5 tank fulls (Which is approx 22.5 gal).
After getting home B was wiped, so she crashed for the evening and I went over to
trixie &
developer's celebration.
Tuesday was B's mom's birthday. So she was a bit down. But we managed to get out of work on-time, which is quite a feet. So we went out for dinner and I took her to see Star Wars Ep III.
