Well lots of work...
Most of it stupid things but there have been a couple of exceptionaly horrific things to deal with. Especially with the fall-out from what happened here a coulple of weeks ago.
Also I've been trying to plan B and my trip out to CA. Damn that place is bigger than it looks on some of the web maps...
Last week we to migrate one office full of machines, not much of a prolem right? Thats what we thought, we had a few people, we were able to swoop in and get 95% of the changes done, but then we hit one machine that kept us in work until midnight. We finally got that working, but had to be back in to help all the users get there personal configurations done with each individual. This meant being there when the earliest of them came into the office the next day (8am).
I would have gotten 6 hours of sleep except that when I got home I hit the wrong button on my clock and set the time forward by one hour when I was trying to set the alarm. So I was up and trying to get into work at 6am.
Add to all of this the tale of some students who hacked (not a computer system, but something else) into another system here, which I'll post about in a locked post...
Then add one of the main computer rooms blowing out it's UPS because the backup generator, and the UPS we're not wired to the same ground level. (There was aprently approx a 300V difference from what I was told). This hasn't been a problem since they moved into that bldg what 2.5 - 3 YEARS AGO... But someone decided it would be a good thing to test this. (Why this didn't happen before now I don't know. I would have THOUGHT someting like this would have been tested before now, like oh say 2.5-3 years ago when it was INSTALLED...)
Mostly though we've been making good progress on our projects, but there are the occasional few that have been slow going, and now I'm catching e-mails from a couple of them because they want to move NOW.. Well there are only so many of us doing this work, and other groups have had higher priorityies... Of course the management will say they have additional resources to dedicate to this, but they're responding in "fire-fight" mode, and we asked for a priority list, but that just doesn't happen because there have been so many other changes here...
