This will probably get long there was just so much to see and do out there...

Starting off with the Conference:

MS TechEd 2004 didn't contain as much new to me info, as it did last year, but overall it was still a good thing to have gone.

Going through the airport I set off the metal detector as usual...
The flight out was almost entirely filled with geeks going and the reg numbers that I heard from our MS rep put the total somewhere around 13,000....

I met up with the first of my cow-orkers who was also going. (Nice guy, in a load obnoxious kinda way) ;-) So I knew I wouldn't be bored...

We arrived around 9Pm local time, got the rental car found our way to the hotel and crashed...

The first thing I noticed was that the weather out there was wonderful...

I took a load of pictures durring the week I was there with a digital camera B borrowed from work.

We ended up skipping most of the Key note addresses, just because neither of us like the morning very much, I'll probably watch them on the DVD when they come in...

After the second full day of conference stuff we decided to do the tourist thing and go to Tijuana...

Well that made for an interesting night....
The drive down to the border was quick with no problems found a nice conviennt place to park on the US side, and it was just short walk to the gate... That had to be the easiest border crossing I have ever made... (except for Canada, whcih is more like a toll booth) we get a cab and ask to go to a good local bar (turns out the good local bars are closed on tuesday night, and he takes us to a strip club).... Well at least the second of the two cow-orkers I'm with is cool with this, Ok so not what we were looking for but it made for a fun start to the night... (More how I thought the night would be ending but hey when in Mexico....)
So after a couple of drinks we decide to try and go see some more of the city and find the bar area cow-orker number two went to last time here was there... another cab ride and we're dropped off in front od a small establishment,, okay we thjought a small bar will give it a shot and we walk into a one room bar with "ladies" lined up on stools along one wall... Just as the full meaning of that begins to register, the madem of the house walks up... She explains the rules and the price structure... There's anouther group of guys there drinking, so we sit down order a drink before moving on...
3/4 of a Corrona later and we're out the door... The local taxi drivers offerig to take us to another destination... We can see lights up the street by the big Arch (Cheech and Chong's "Born in East LA" starts playing in my head....) but we decide that it would be better to try our own luck than to rely on a taxi again...

As we head up the street the locals tell us to watch out for the cops...

They were right not even five minutes later and the cops are pulling over and fisking us, telling us we're in the bad part of town where people buy drugs... they are also confused by my PDA/Cell phone... Fortunately in this confusion they forget to shake us down for cash...
I'm guessing this because shortly thereafetr another local asks us how much it cost us for the cops to let us go...

We get up to the lighted area and there's the bars my cow-orker remebers (including a Hard Rock Cafe...) all closed we only find one place other than strip clubs open... Go in to get a few more drinks... Corrona's by the bucket full... (too bad I don't like beer much)....

At this point its getting late so we decide one more stop. Another stirp joint (suprise, suprise)... It looked decent enough from the outside, and the advert was funny "100 girls, and only 3 ugly ones".... I guess Tueday's night must be ugly girl night though...

At least the cab ride back to the border was quick, and the crossing back into the US was mostly uneventful and by the LONG line of cars that were all being searched I'm glad we parked on the US side....

To be continued

I like telling amusing annecdotes.
"...And then the drunk bisexual strippers showed up..." is an old favorite of mine...

and in college I had a creative writing teacher who wrote on the board
"...It was already thursday and his Lordship's prostetic limb was no where to be found..."
(and told us to write it down, and then finish. have 45 minutes, and WRITE!) giggle..
 but

"After the second full day of conference stuff we decided to do the tourist thing and go to Tijuana...

 is right up there ...

Heh, Yeah it made for an overall fun night.... :-)

I'm sorry we didn't have a chance to look you up while we were out there, but I can now see why you love the weather out there...

We were just so wiped by the end of the trip...
